Dunhuang West Terms & Conditions

Effective Date: March 1, 2026

Welcome to the Dunhuang West website (hereinafter referred to as “this Website”). This Website and its related services are operated by Dunhuang West (hereinafter referred to as “we,” “the Organization,” or “Dunhuang West”).

By accessing or using this Website, you agree to be bound by the following Terms & Conditions (hereinafter referred to as “these Terms”). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please immediately cease use of this Website.

1. Description of Services

Dunhuang West is a long-term, future-oriented practice project dedicated to reintegrating the Dunhuang wisdom system—a system that functioned authentically for a millennium—into the fabric of modern life, work, and creativity. This Website aims to present and provide information and services to the public across three core pillars:

  • Caves (Offline Spaces): Introductions, updates, and booking services for a new generation of retreat spaces built in the Arizona desert and other locations. These spaces are constructed for retreat and practice rather than as heritage sites merely for observation.

  • Classics (Literature & Wisdom): Systematic cataloging, translation, and display of research findings related to ancient Dunhuang manuscripts, as well as access to related online content.

  • Innovation Retreats (Practice Methodology): Introductions to systematic retreat practices, training guidance, and registration services for related online and offline activities.

2. Website Usage Guidelines

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, and non-transferable right to access and use this Website for personal and non-commercial purposes. You agree not to engage in the following:

  • Using this Website in any manner that violates local, national, or international laws and regulations.

  • Attempting unauthorized access to the Website’s backend systems, servers, or databases.

  • Engaging in any commercial infringement or the unauthorized resale or reproduction of the manuscripts, translations, and research findings provided by this Website.

3. Intellectual Property and Copyright Statement

All content on this Website—including but not limited to text, images, audio, video, logos, designs, classics translations, systematic cataloging frameworks, and “Innovation Retreats” teaching materials—is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws, and is owned by Dunhuang West or relevant rights holders.

  • Transformation of Classics: True protection lies in allowing wisdom to take root in the human heart. While we encourage sharing and learning, you may not copy, modify, distribute, or exploit any exclusive translations or research content on this Website for commercial purposes without explicit written permission.

4. Offline Spaces (Arizona Caves) and Activity Rules

As our project includes physical cave spaces in Arizona, USA, if you book or participate in any offline “Innovation Retreats” practices through this Website, you must additionally agree to the following:

  • Ecological Respect: Our caves are constructed and used with respect for the local nature and culture, minimizing environmental impact. Participants must strictly comply with local ecological protection regulations.

  • Personal Responsibility and Assumption of Risk: Offline retreat spaces are located in natural desert environments. Participants are responsible for their own personal safety and property, and may be required to sign a separate waiver or health declaration before participation.

  • Purpose of Space: These spaces are designed to support deep reflection and long-term practice; they are intended to be used authentically rather than existing symbolically. Participants must follow the usage guidelines and must not use the spaces for destructive activities unrelated to practice, retreat, or innovation.

5. Disclaimers

  • Accuracy of Content: While we are dedicated to cataloging, understanding, and activating dispersed Dunhuang manuscripts, all historical materials, translations, academic views, and retreat guidance provided on the Website are for reference in learning, research, and personal growth only.

  • Not a Medical or Psychological Substitute: Our “Innovation Retreats” methods are designed to help individuals reclaim their attention, transcend existing information and old answers, and generate genuine new understanding and creativity. However, this is not a medical practice or a substitute for psychological treatment. If you have serious physical or mental health concerns, please seek help from professional medical institutions.
